Roger was born October 7, 1934 in International Falls to John and Sophie (Grovum) Bolstad. He graduated from Falls High School in 1952. Roger served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was honorably discharged.
Roger was united in marriage to Virginia Gerlach on June 28, 1958 at St. Thomas Catholic Church. He worked for Boise Cascade for 15 years. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years.
Roger was an umpire for the local fast-pitch softball games and at the family games. He enjoyed playing golf, cards and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his wit and humor.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia in 2007; his parents, brother, Robert and sister, Marian Allen.
Roger is survived by his sons, Michael (Diana) Bolstad and Gerald (Patti) Bolstad both of Int'l Falls; daughters, Brenda (Darcy) Ruport of Int'l Falls and Barb (Terry) Hinrichs of Harvey, ND; grandchildren, Andrea (Jonathan) Petersen, Adam Hinrichs and Ashley Hinrichs, Lexi Bolstad (fiancé Mike Brewinski), Burke, Amanda, Sophie, Shawna and Brittany Bolstad and Nicholas (Kari) Ruport; great-grandson, Gavin Petersen; brother, Donald (Joyce) Bolstad of Int'l Falls; sister, Lois (Ralph) Jenkins of Seattle, WA and sister-in-law, Verna Bolstad of Int'l Falls.
A memorial gathering will be held in Roger's memory on Monday, February 15, 2010 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Ranier Community Building in Ranier, MN. |
