Robert was born December 7, 1927 to Fred and Lydia (Roberson) McBride in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The family moved to International Falls in 1930 and Robert has lived there ever since. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and was a Medic during WWII.
Robert was united in marriage to Elizabeth Helen Armit in 1948. He worked as a mechanic for Boise for 46 years.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. He loved watching and spending time with his grandchildren and was very family oriented.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elizabeth; granddaughters, Jessica Wright and Shelley Leseman and son-in-law, Ronald Wright.
Robert is survived by his son, Patrick (Naomi) McBride of Hoyt Lakes, MN; daughters, Diane Wright and Donna (Tom) Fairhurst, both of Int'l Falls and Debbie (Keith) Kleppe of Littlefork, MN; grandchildren, James McBride, Wade McBride, Shanna (Ryan) O'Connell, Jeannette (Ken) Haynes, Robert (Sherry) Wright, Kristie Fritz (special friend Chuck), Cindy (Brian) Timm, Kim Fairhurst and Andy Fairhurst; great-grandchildren, Patrick, Ian, Gavyn, Gracie, Craig, Austin, Lexie, Brady, Livie, Connor, Parker and Kinzie and sisters, Gloria Reuter and Audrey (Jerry) Beatie.
Visitation will be on Thursday evening, February 18, 2010 from 5 - 7:00 p.m. at Green Larsen Mortuary in International Falls. Memorial services will be on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Green-Larsen Mortuary. Interment will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.
