Beatrice was born August 10, 1915 in Gemmell, Minnesota, the youngest child of Edwin W. and Nancy (Beardslee) Fry. She moved to Littlefork with her family in 1924 and graduated from Littlefork High School in 1933. She was a graduate of Northern Business College in Bemidji and worked for several years as a civil service employee at the Farmers Home Administration in Minnesota and in the government procurement office in Columbus, Ohio. She returned to Minnesota in 1950, was employed at the First National Bank in International Falls, retiring from there in 1977.
Her retirement years were spent traveling, doing volunteer work at the Falls Care Center, service at the church as a counter and was on the funeral lunch committee. She attended Bible studies, loved to play bridge and cribbage and was a demon Scrabble player. She also spent much time with her relatives at the cabin on Lake Kabetogama.
Beatrice was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, St. Thomas League, and was a past regent and past state treasurer of Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ray B. and Edwin L. Fry; two sisters, Celia Barstad and Mae B. Agnew and a nephew, Edwin J. Fry.
Beatrice is survived by seven nephews, Donald, Lawrence, Vernon, Robert (of Littlefork) and Bruce Fry, Willis and Ben Barstad; eleven nieces, Nancy Hoy, Betty DeGreeff, Shirley Collins, Eunice Steadman, Fay Ellen Nadella, Beverly Troup, Evelyn Curtis (of Littlefork), Diane Running, Mary Jane Pedersen, Elizabeth Horst, Helen Bungert and many great nieces and nephews.
The family would prefer memorials in Beatrice's honor be given to the St. Thomas Catholic School or the Occupational Development Center.
Memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in International Falls. Interment will be in Oakley Cemetery.
