Name:  Lydia Mary Maxwell, 98 Died:  Tuesday, February 23, 2010, in Falls Good Samaritan Center Lydia Mary Maxwell, 98, of Internationals died on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Falls Good Samaritan Center. Lydia was born July 23, 1911 in Aitkin, Minnesota to John and Salomee Saumier. She grew up in International Falls and attended Falls High School with the class of 1929. Lydia was united in marriage to Harold Maxwell in 1929. Lydia worked for Mando during WWII and worked at the Chicago Café as a baker. Lydia loved knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was known for her baking, cooking and bread making. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Degree of Honor. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold; brothers, Homer, Louis and Eugene Saumier; sons, Robert and Frank Maxwell; daughter, Marilyn Laine and grandson, John Maxwell. Lydia is survived by her sons, Donald Maxwell of Winnetka, CA and Gerald (Arvella) Maxwell of Clinton, WA; fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, brothers, Walter (Marjorie) Saumier of Lansing, MI; sister, Leona Dollhoff of Saginaw, MI and daughter-in-law, Martha Maxwell of Springfield, MO. The family would prefer memorials in Lydia's honor to the St. Thomas Catholic School. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Monday, March 1, 2010 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in International Falls.
