Mary was born January 20, 1911 in Iowa. She grew up and attended school in Roosevelt, MN. In 1941 she moved to the Loman area and settled in International Falls in 1952.
The former Mary E. Dean was united in marriage to Hans Roslee; she later married Oscar Hexum on July 20, 2005. Mary worked at several cafés in the Falls; The Chicago Café, Helen's Lunch, the Rex Hotel and the Forest Inn.
Mary loved gardening, canning, and cooking. She was an active volunteer. She was a member of the Falls Nursing Home Auxiliary, a life member of the Women's V.F.W., American Legion Auxiliary and the Humane Society. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary had many friends old and new. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a greatly loved and appreciated.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Violet (Burkett) Dean, husbands, a sister, Effie Hopkins and brothers, Leo Dean and Albert Cook.
Mary is survived by a son, John (Bonnie) Roslee of the Falls, daughters, Audrey Sonsalla of Bloomington, MN, Lucille Roslee of Little Canada, MN, Shirley (Robert) Gabriel of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Linda (Gene) Shank of Two Harbors, MN, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral services at Zion Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
