Eleanor "Taps" Hausmann
May 29, 1923 - November 1, 2008
Eleanor "Taps" Hausmann, 85, of International Falls went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday November 1, 2008 at the Falls Memorial Hospital.
She was born on May 29, 1923 in Ft. Frances, Ontario, Canada to Peter and Pheobe (Walton) Bruneau. The family moved to Int'l Falls in 1935. She graduated from Falls High School in 1941 the same year she married Alvin "Babe" Hausmann. During WWII "Babe", "Taps" and their one year old son James lived in Fairbanks, Alaska. After WWII the family moved to California where David was born. They moved back to Int'l Falls for two years and returned to California for six more years where Douglas and Rebecca where born. In 1953 the family returned to Int'l Falls where Patrick, Peter and Randy were born. The family operated North Star Inn until her husband became ill in 1960.
She enjoyed reading; swimming, bicycling and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Rainy Lake women's club and was instrumental in getting the bike trail finished out to Rainy Lake. She was also an active member of the Point-O-Pines Mennonite Church. Her love for children and sharing the love of Jesus shone through, especially during summer Bible School Times.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin "Babe" Hausmann, Parents, an infant son Peter, her Sister Lorraine Marshall and a very dear daughter-in-law Janet Hausmann on July 16, 2003.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Hausmann of Goshen, IN, five sons, James Hausmann of Int'l Falls, David ( Anita) Hausmann of Int'l Falls, Douglas (Darlene) Hausmann of Mpls., Patrick Hausmann of Hibbing, MN, and Randy (Sue) Hausmann of Brooklyn Park, MN. Seven grand-children, Jeff, Scott, Monte, Heather, Michael, Steven and Michelle. Seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Blake, Jacob, Alexandra, Christopher, Gabrielle and Garrett.
Visitation will be on Tuesday November 4, 2008 at the Green-Larsen Mortuary from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday November 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family would prefer memorials in her memory.
