November 27, 2002 - July 17, 2021
Bethany Dawn Kochmann, 18, passed away July 17, 2021 at her home surrounded by family and friends. Bethany was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on November 27, 2002 to Lillian Crandall (Kochmann) and Derek Kochmann. Bethany graduated from Littlefork-Big Falls High School on May 28, 2021. Bethany was in cheerleading, dance, and girl scouts in elementary school. She loved to dance around and cheer everyone on. Bethany was a very spunky, outgoing, and very gabby individual. Bethany was a complete polar opposite of her older sister, Katie. Bethany would get so dirty playing with mud pies and Grandma and Grandpa’s farm. She was a girl who liked to cause mischief. One time she was playing with her cousin, Megan, and Bethany was throwing corn to have the chickens chase Megan around the farm and Bethany was laughing hysterically watching Megan being chased around by Grandma’s mean ole’ chickens. When Bethany was not getting all dirty and causing mischief, she loved to dress up all pretty and glamorous. In Bethany’s free time, when she wasn’t talking someone’s ear off, she would watch The Voice and dance shows. She loved to listen to music especially if Blake Shelton was singing it. She even got to meet Blake Shelton backstage in September of 2017 before his show. She was so happy to meet him. One of Bethany’s favorite vacation spots was the cabin in Canada. While there, Bethany loved spending time taking many boat riders in her boat that she may have stolen from daddy Steve. Bethany and Katie also enjoyed going on many adventures along the shore line. Bethany began losing her eyesight at the age of eight and having seizures at the age of ten. After many years of testing and doctor appointments, the reason for her blindness and seizures was a disease called Batten Disease, a rare genetic disease. Bethany is preceded in death by her older sister, Katie Kochmann; great grandparents, Norbert and Margaret Kochmann, Eddie and Leola Crandall, and George and Martha Jirik. Bethany is survived by her parents, Lillian Crandall, Steven Thomopoulos, and Derek Kochmann; brothers, Calvin Thomopoulos and Riley Kochmann; sister, Kimberly Thomopoulos; niece, Sarrinna Thomopoulos; nephew, Christopher Thomopoulos; grandparents; Otto and Evelyn Crandall, Jim and Diane Kochmann; great grandparents, Don and Jane Thompson; uncles, Clyde Crandall, Jeff (Merri Lou) Crandall, and Andy (Bailey) Crandall; aunts, Paulie (John) Neisen, Lindi (Matt) Kulzer, Julie (David) Loebrick, Kristy (Bert) Leslie, and Sarah (Dave) Markert; her fifteen cousins; and a few special friends that will dearly miss her, Megan Korinta, Megan Splett, and Larissa Enget. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 1-3pm at Green Larsen Mortuary in International Falls, MN. A catholic mass will be held at St. Joseph church in Beaulieu, MN on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Following mass, interment will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Beaulieu, MN.
